96 living systems, each grown live in the browser from a simple seeded rule — flocks, fronts, grains, orbits, markets. Nothing is drawn; everything emerges. Ink on paper, printable at any moment.
Each print below is a moment from the piece it opens. Every piece: one seed, one interaction, one claim.
whatThe Emergence Suite is a collection of living systems, each grown in the browser from a simple seeded rule: flocks, crystals, colonies, crowds, markets. Nothing is drawn. Everything you see emerges while you watch, in ink on paper, printable at any moment.
whyEmergence is the idea that simple local rules, followed by many parts with no plan and no leader, produce order nobody wrote down: a snowflake's arms, a flock's turn, a city's borders. Each piece here makes one such claim and then has to show it on screen, so you can check it with your own eyes.
howEvery piece is one self-contained page. One integer seeds every random decision, so a seed always regrows the same way and a new seed grows something new. Each has one interaction to disturb it, a small instrument that measures its claim, a dark scheme, a still version for reduced motion, and a print-this-moment link that turns the current frame into a letter-size drawing. Open any piece and press about to hear what it is and how it works.
